A Viral Video
I recently picked up an Insta360 Go Ultra so I’ve been filming a bit more. A few videos of my son but mostly my bike rides to and from work.
Recently, on the way home from work, I captured another cyclist raging at a car who was obstructing him.
I shared the clip with a friend and they suggested I post it on the Auckland subreddit. I took a short 10 second clip, posted, went to football training for 2 hours, and when I jumped back onto the interwebs, the post had blown up.
24 hours later, the post had received over 300 comments (nothing gets /r/auckland going like a bike vs car debate).
The next day, my friend came across a repost of my video on facebook with over 2.8k likes and 800 comments.
People were messaging me on Reddit, asking for permission to use it on Youtube videos, it was all a bit surreal.
I forgot how the internet works. How quickly information disseminates and also how quickly people can find something to argue over.
I’m glad I posted the video. I want to create more and share.
I want to be less of a lurker and more of a creator - both on the internet and irl. Ideally I want to do it on my terms.
Perhaps one day someone will find this site as interesting as a short 10 second video - but until then I will bathe in my 2 milliseconds of fame.
